In short: we collect what a dating app needs to work. Other members see your public profile and rank. We don't sell your data, show third-party ads or track you across other apps. You can delete everything from the app at any time.
This policy explains how the operator of Ranked ("Ranked", "we", "us") handles personal information in the Ranked app and at rankedating.com (the "Service"). For any privacy question or request, email support@rankedating.com, which is our only contact channel.
1. What we collect
- Account: name and email from Apple or Google sign-in, and the phone number you verify.
- Profile: photos, first name, birthday, gender, who you're interested in, prompts, bio, and any optional details you add, such as height, work, education, ethnicity, religion or politics.
- Location: the city or neighbourhood you choose. We don't use your device's GPS.
- Activity: likes, passes, matches, messages, blocks, reports and when you use the app.
- Device: a push notification token and basic technical and error data.
Some optional details, such as ethnicity, religion, politics and who you're interested in, may be sensitive. Adding them is your choice and your consent to show them on your profile. You can remove them at any time. We don't collect biometric data or use facial recognition.
2. How we use it
- To run the Service: your profile, your Discover feed, matches, messages and notifications.
- To calculate ranks: your 1–10 rank is generated automatically, mainly from how members respond to your profile, plus conversation activity and time on the app. It's shown to other members and affects the order of profiles in Discover. It doesn't use your ethnicity, religion or politics, and it has no effect outside Ranked.
- For safety: verifying accounts, enforcing the 18+ rule, screening photos automatically, reviewing reports and preventing scams and abuse.
- To support you, improve the Service and comply with the law.
We do not sell or "share" your personal information for advertising, show third-party ads, or track you across other companies' apps and websites.
3. Who sees it
- Other members see your public profile: first name, age, photos, prompts, details you add, city, approximate distance and rank. Matches see the messages you send them. They're never shown your birthday, phone number, email or exact location.
- Service providers that run the Service for us: Google (Firebase and Google Cloud hosting, database, storage, sign-in, SMS and image screening) and Apple (sign-in and notifications).
- Law enforcement or others when required by law, or when we believe it's needed to prevent harm, protect someone's safety, or enforce our Terms.
- A successor, such as a company we form or that acquires Ranked, under this policy.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. Deleting your account deletes your sign-in details, profile, photos, likes, matches, messages and blocks straight away; leftover technical copies, such as server logs, are removed automatically within 90 days. Messages are deleted for both people when either person unmatches. If a conversation is reported, we keep a copy with the report. We may keep reports, moderation records and details of banned accounts for as long as needed for safety, legal and fraud-prevention reasons.
5. Your privacy rights
You can edit your profile, change your location, pause your profile, turn off notifications, and delete your account in the app at any time (Settings → Delete account).
Depending on where you live, including California and other U.S. states, the EU and the UK, you may also have the right to access, get a copy of, correct or delete your information; to object to or restrict how we use it; to withdraw consent; and to appeal our decision on your request. To make a request, email support@rankedating.com with the subject "Privacy request" from the email address, or including the phone number, on your account. We'll respond within the time the law requires. We won't treat you differently for using your rights. You may also complain to your local data protection authority or state Attorney General.
We don't sell or share personal information, so there's nothing to opt out of. Where the GDPR applies, we rely on our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running a safe service, your consent for optional details, and legal obligations.
6. Security, age and location
- Security: we use encryption and access controls, but no system is perfectly secure.
- Adults only: Ranked is for people 18 and over. We delete accounts of anyone we learn is under 18.
- United States: your information is stored and processed in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate.
- This website uses no advertising or analytics cookies. Our host and Google Fonts may receive your IP address.
- Changes: we'll notify you in the app or by email about important changes to this policy.
