Ranked does not conduct criminal background checks or identity checks on its members. Verification only confirms that a member controls a phone number or email address; it does not confirm who they are. We cannot guarantee the identity, intentions or behaviour of any member, and we are not responsible for the conduct of members on or off the app. Always use your own judgement and follow the tips below.

Dating safety tips

Before you meet

• Keep conversations on Ranked until you're comfortable. Scammers often push to move to text, WhatsApp or other apps quickly.
• Protect your personal information. Don't share your home address, workplace, daily routine, financial details or social security number with someone you haven't met.
• Do a video call first on a platform you trust. It helps confirm your match is who they say they are.
• Research your date. A quick search of their name and photos can reveal inconsistencies or a fake profile.
• Never send money, gift cards, crypto or financial help to someone you met online, however convincing the story is.
• Be careful with intimate images. Once shared, you lose control of them. Never send them to someone you haven't met, and never share anyone else's.

When you meet

• Meet in public and stay in public. Choose a busy café, bar or restaurant. Don't meet at your home, their home or a secluded place.
• Tell a friend or family member your plans: who you're meeting, where, and when you expect to be home. Consider sharing your live location with them.
• Arrange your own transport to and from the date so you can leave whenever you want.
• Know your limits. Be aware of how alcohol or drugs affect you. Never leave your drink unattended and don't accept a drink you didn't see poured.
• Keep your phone charged and with you at all times.
• Trust your instincts. If something feels off, leave. You don't owe anyone an explanation. Ask staff for help if you feel unsafe.

Consent

All sexual activity must begin with consent and continue with consent. Consent must be freely given, enthusiastic and can be withdrawn at any time. A person who is drunk, high, asleep or otherwise incapacitated cannot consent. If you're unsure, stop and ask.

Spotting romance scams

Scammers build trust quickly and then ask for money. Be cautious if a match:

• asks for money, gift cards, crypto, bank details or help with an "emergency", travel costs, medical bills or customs fees;
• promotes an investment, trading platform or crypto opportunity;
• professes strong feelings very quickly, or their stories don't add up;
• avoids video calls or always has a reason they can't meet in person;
• claims to be overseas, in the military, or working on an oil rig or ship; or
• asks you to move the conversation off Ranked straight away.

If you see any of these signs, stop replying, report and block the member, and never send money. If you've lost money, report it to your bank immediately and to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov and the FBI at ic3.gov.

Reporting and blocking

You can report and block anyone from their chat by tapping ⋯ → Report & block. Reports are confidential; the person won't know who reported them. Reporting also unmatches you straight away, so they can no longer see your profile or message you. Our team reviews reports and may remove content or ban accounts. Please report anyone who:

• is threatening, harassing or pressuring you;
• asks for money or promotes an investment;
• sends sexual content you didn't ask for;
• appears to be under 18;
• uses someone else's photos or a fake identity; or
• behaved inappropriately or harmed you on a date.

If something happened offline, you can also email support@rankedating.com. If a crime has been committed, please contact the police as well. We cooperate with law enforcement.
